Haha, took a decent bit of time considering how short it is.
I honestly can't understand how people can actually like typing like that 24/7.
At least for me personally, it's so much easier to just use complete sentences and correct spelling.
Same here. I tried typing in that once just to see how it is, and I probably could have wrote a whole paragraph in the same time it took me to type that. It looks so uneducated and the people who type like that are purposely doing that, and wasting much more time. It's also a nuisance for the other person to read.
No kidding gang...on all of the fire service boards I visit and post on...all of them...one of the top 5 gripes from the members is younger firefighters and buffs/Explorers/ jr members posting in textspeak.
What's really bad when a rookie types the narrative on a run report in textspeak (This very thing resulted in one of the better recent chewing-outs performed by a veteran captain...backed up by an equally experienced Battalion Chief ...in a certain urban fire department that I run with !) or does an employment application using text verbiage... (That'll put said application in the round file right then...with any employer, not just public safety). Bad thing is, one or two people do it and lots of adults assume all young people type/write/think that way. Happily the majority actually DO know when to use normal every day language
I'm tempted to copy Rishi's and Rob's posts and post them over on one the fire boards with the announcement 'Guys...there IS hope!!'
