As a lot of you probably already know, I'm pretty good with computers. I'm majoring in Computer Science and I've been taking programming classes since eighth grade. I also work at my former High School over the summer doing tech support.
So if you have any problems with your computer, I can probably help you out a bit. Or if you don't have a problem, and are just curious about something, feel free to ask me those kind of questions too. Even if I don't know the answer off the top of my head I'll probably be able to find it on Google pretty quickly and translate it into terms most people can understand.
Also, if you just want to chat about anything related to technology, here's a good place to do that.

Cool My laptop normally runs at around 120F so today I installed a program to control the fans on my computer. I set the mode to force fans to high speed and now my computer is 73F. I want to see how low it can get But it is incredibly noisy, which I am fine with This might be a second option to lower computer temperature then buy a cooling pad.

I need help then. I'm quite sure its a problem with my video card, (Radeon 9800 Pro) but if its not, I'm not sure. Even simple things like watching youtube videos, playing Football Manager, the computer starts locking almost immediately. It will freeze for about 2 seconds, then come back for 2 seconds. Eventually, it just freezes all together. During this lock process, MSN disconnects almost instantly, AIM lasts a little bit longer, but eventually disconnects. I've gotten a notification once or twice from the computer saying that a port is disconnected, but I haven't gotten that very often. I've downloaded drivers from ATI for my video card, but no deal. It hasn't done anything. Any ideas?

The part I need to see is the first two sections and should look something like this: ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 1/4/2009, 17:05:06 Machine name: XPS64 Operating System: Windows Vistaâ„¢ Ultimate (6.0, Build 6001) Service Pack 1 (6001.vistasp1_gdr.080917-1612) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: Dell Inc. Here is another problem I am having. In the area of the window that tells about my computer, it doesn't show the specs for the processor. It used to, before Dell replaced the logic board. Any way to get that back? (Yes I know it is less important but I am a perfectionist) wimg.co.uk/AZY7Vz.jpg
