*sigh* Really Verizon, I can't use the remember password on my 4S? Seems someone's been drinking a bit too much of the Apple Kool-aid. Attachments:

Hey since we're all talking about Apple and iPhones right now- got a bit of a question for y'all. I got myself a used (not really, the original screen protectors were still on it and has 10 months left on factory warranty) 4S. Anyway it's locked to a carrier across the country from me and the guy who sold it to me did NOT have the original sim card- he just told me to go get a gevey Ultra, which will act as any sim card I wanted. (The phone is stuck on the setup screen, so you need a valid sim card to activate it). I've gotten myself a gevey Ultra S and I can't get it to work. The phone keeps saying it has been successfully unlocked by the Gevey, however when I stick my Telus sim card in it from my original iPhone, it says the sim isn't valid. I can do that whole emergency call, cancel etc trick to unlock the phone but again- it only sticks around until I put the phone back to sleep, and then it's back to the setup. I just wanted to find out from you folk- does the Gevey Sim only work when the phone is already activated and not in setup mode? It doesn't seem likely since I have the reset sim and everything SHOULD work the same on the activation screen as it would on the home screen already activated. I dunno. I'm not really glued to this 4S. i can go get another one. I just don't feel the need unless I ABSOLUTELY have to. Edit: I've also tried using Absinthe after I do the emergency call unlock trick, but the phone needs to be activated before it can be jailbroken- if I can get the phone jailbroken, then I can get the phone unlocked via third party apps.

I've tried digging around, and it seems like the iPhone 4S is a tricky one to hacktivate. Best bet would definitely be getting your hands on an unlocked one, because even if you get the current phone to work once, there's no guarantee future software/baseband updates won't cause problems.

Ah well I tried. Time to flip it and sell it for half of what I bought it for. I've found one that is the same condition and it's on my current network so I don't have to worry about trying to unlock it. I've also tried bargaining with a dude over a default-unlock but I don't think he understands that now that the 5 is out, the 4S is going to be dirt cheap VERY soon.. he will be extremely lucky to get even half of what he's asking. I love stupid people

I'd call the carrier that it is locked to and see if they can unlock it. Many carriers will do it for free, some might ask for a fee. Second, then I'd try one of the unlock services on Ebay. I've seen them for $15 and apparently they work.

hey guys, i need help. who knows c#? :/ I can probably help too. stackoverflow.com is also a pretty good programming resource. Heck, Google searches for programming-related things almost always bring up a few posts on that site first.

Bought myself an Asus Transfrormer tab yesterday! Actually tyoping this with it. You can opt into buying it with the additional keyboard that acts as another battery as wekll, which is what Iv've gone and done. It's as if it's a small llittle notebook, but with the option to detach the screen. I'm now slowly phasing out my poor old laptop... Anyone else rely on tablets now?

Nope, my iPad rarely gets any use, unfortunately. I occasionally use it to read textbooks if I'm sitting on the sofa or lying on my bed since it's much lighter and because I have all my books available in PDFs.
It's mostly in my school bag so I'll have it whenever I need to access something. But I prefer using my computer for most things.

The Transformer is pretty cool, especially with the keyboard dock. I'm guessing it won't be long before Android is a really good, viable laptop/tablet hybrid OS (there's still a few shortcomings that make it less than ideal). Chromebooks are also getting more and more useful.
